Peninsula is very proud of the massive effort put in by our MWSA Representive Team at the State Championships on Nov 28-29th, where they finished Runners-up to Cumberland.
In difficult hot and windy conditions, the girls went undefeated through the tournament. The play-offs were full of drama. Initially delayed because of the intense heat, the women's finals were then moved to Blacktown International Sports Park - where they played in the evening under the lights.
The MWSA team met old rivals North Shore in the semi-finals. A tense game followed that saw the two teams battle through three tie-breaker innings, with Manly Warringah holding their nerve longer to prevail 15-6 in a game that took two hours and twenty minutes in the heat!
The unbeaten MWSA team then had to play also unbeaten Cumberland in the final game. The girls held it close for the first few innings, but were gradually inched out by some fierce pitching from Cumberland, who won 6-0 in the end.
For a full run down of scores and the final results, see Softball NSW.
Peninsula is very proud of the whole MWSA team for their amazing performance throughout the tournament. We are especially proud of our strong Peninsula contingent who pitched, batted, and battled throughout.
